American Hikers to Be Freed
Iran’s president says that Josh Fattal and Shane Bauer, the two American hikers who were captured in 2009, accused of being spies and sentenced to eight years in prison will be released in two days. President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad told NBC News that Fattal and Bauer are enjoying “very good conditions here in prison … it’s like staying in a hotel.” When pressed to elaborate on the conditions, Ahmadinejad added, “OK, it’s more like staying in the boiler room of a hotel but our guards did place mints on the sump pump every night.”
Ahmadinejad admitted that the men could have been released much sooner but it took his team of technical experts two years to reverse engineer their trail mix.
